What is a Grot Spot?

'Grot spots' take many forms, my form for reporting grot spots lists the most common complaints I get from constituents.


Litter Litter blights our roads, streets, parks and beaches and costs Workington taxpayers tens of thousands of pounds to clear up every year.

Overgrown Grass / Verge A known hindrance to many road users, grass verges obstructs the vision of drivers, putting both pedestrians and other road users at risk.
Untidy Site A once clean area can often be tarnished by the development of an untidy site. Reporting is key to the site's restoration.
Broken / Dirty Street Furniture It is vital that we maintain the condition of our street furniture, such as street signs which guide and direct road users and pedestrians.
Disappearing Footpath 9% of the footpath network in England and Wales is impassable, blocked off or unusable. Reporting is vital in preserving our accessibility to streets, roads and routes.
