Mark Jenkinson has said he is "delighted" that Workington has been identified as being able to bid for funding from the £3.6 billion Town Fund that Government has allocated to improve towns and small cities across Britain.
He said: "As the MP for Workington I want to ensure that the towns in my constituency are vibrant and I will be working hard to secure investment both from the private and public sector."
The Workington Town Deal board has just had its first meeting and I am very pleased to work with such enthusiastic people who want to see Workington succeed. We are working towards submitting a bid for £25 million which would be a gamechanger for Workington.’
