Mark Jenkinson, MP for Workington, has questioned Transport Ministers in the Chamber of the House of Commons.
Mark has been contacted by a number of constituents about delayed works on the Brigham/ Broughton junction on the A66.
Mark said: "This is an issue I was aware of before becoming MP for Workington. In January 2019 Highways England confirmed that a feasibility study was almost completed and they were moving on to the next stage of a detailed design and securing funding.
"There is an obvious safety issue at this junction and it has been proposed that a roundabout would improve safety and infrastructure for motorists using that stretch of the A66. The roundabout is a project that I fully support and I will continue to lobby Government so that this scheme progresses. It is greatly needed by my constituents for their safety and I will keep fighting for it."
In his response to Mark’s question, Secretary of State Grant Shapps MP commented that he had indeed seen the issue for himself on a visit to the constituency and the issue would be taken forward as part of the Road Infrastructure Strategy- 2 which would be announced shortly.
