MARK Jenkinson has welcomed the Conservative pledge to double down on its plan to get Rwanda off the ground.
The move is part of continuing efforts to ensure those who come to the UK illegally do not get to stay.
The Conservatives have also confirmed they will introduce a legal cap on immigration, giving Parliament control over the number of people that can come to the UK on work and family visas as part of their clear plan to get migration down to sustainable levels.
The Migration Advisory Committee will advise government on the appropriate level of migration based on the benefits and costs of migration.
The Conservative Manifesto also includes a commitment to increase visa fees and end the student discount for the Immigration Health Surcharge. These reforms will see visa fees increased by 25 per cent, ensuring that those who come to the UK contribute. We will also remove the student discount for the Immigration Health Surcharge.
Mark, the former MP for Workington, and the Conservative candidate for Penrith and Solway said: “Illegal immigration is unfair and net migration is too high and we need to do more to stop the boats and get net migration down to sustainable levels.
“Our clear plan is already working with small boats crossings down by a third last year and net migration down by 10 per cent last year. We are sticking to the plan, getting flights to Rwanda off the ground and capping the number of people who can come to the UK on work or family routes so numbers are controlled.
“The choice for voters at this election is clear: stick the Conservatives who have a clear pla. Or go back to square one with Keir Starmer and the same old Labour who will make the UK a magnet for illegal immigration and put up taxes by £2,094 for every working household.”
