Yesterday saw the second reading of the Immigration and Social Security Co-ordination Bill which passed through the House of Commons. I was proud to support our government in this vote. This is an important milestone for the UK, delivering on our manifesto commitment in the General Election to establish a points based immigration system. It will also give the UK the flexibility and control over immigration policy, which will better enable the nation to attract people with the skills the country requires.
It will also introduce a new fast track NHS visa, which will make it easier and quicker to attract medical professionals from around the world into the NHS.
