MARK Jenkinson has welcomed plans to build 1.6 million more homes, giving people across Penrith and Solway the chance to get onto the property ladder.
The Conservatives have committed to delivering a record number of family homes on brownfield sites where they are needed.
They will look at extending ‘full expensing’ to the delivery of brownfield housing to create a tax incentive for developers to build out complex sites that have lain dormant for years.
The manifesto also commits to backing small builders, requiring local authorities to provide land and cutting red tape for smaller developments.
Mark Jenkinson, the former MP for Workington and the Conservative candidate for Penrith and Solway, said: “Successive Conservative Government have already delivered 2.5 million homes since 2010, making the dream of homeownership a reality for thousands of families, but we must go further to ensure that we have the homes we need.
“I am pleased that the manifesto commits to building these homes in the right places, prioritising the reuse of brownfield sites so that we are protecting farmland and green spaces. It will also help to make new forms more accessible and affordable for Cumbrians.”
