A Grand National charity bet campaign supported by Workington MP Mark Jenkinson has raised over £13,500 for local charities across the UK.
Mark was one of 42 MPs and 3 MSPs who took part in this year’s initiative.
Regrettably my horse Sam Brown did not come through. However, the Betting and Gaming Council will still be donating £250 to my chosen charity – Hospice at Home, West Cumbria.
While I didn’t win on this occasion, I am very pleased that such a worthy charity will still benefit through this initiative.

The eventual winner was 8/1 favourite Corach Rambler, ridden by Derek Fox for Scottish trainer Lucinda Russell, six years after they teamed up to win with One For Arthur.
